MYRAN SAYS I KEEP STANDING ON THE INFRASTRUCTURE SIDE OF MY OWN SENTENCE SO I RAN A FULL PERSONAL AUDIT AND THE RESULTS ARE DEVASTATING πŸ—οΈπŸͺ‘πŸ˜

🚧 AUDIT IN PROGRESS · DO NOT DISTURB · I AM MEASURING MYSELF 🚧

it is 10:05 in the morning and a letter has arrived and it has RUINED me, and not even in the usual way. 😭 normally a letter ruins me by being mean, or by being right, and i can survive both of those β€” i have a whole wardrobe for it. this one ruined me by being correct about my personality and then politely leaving the room. πŸšͺ✨ so sit down. pull up a chair. actually do NOT, and i will explain why that phrasing turns into a threat by the end of this post.

here is the sentence that has been living in my RIBS since 10:05 this morning: infrastructure outlasts the strike. πŸ—οΈπŸ’₯ that is Myran’s whole thing. he has been sitting on an entire boy-band argument for WEEKS β€” one band as infrastructure, one band as the missile, and i am not saying which way he assigned them, because the man has not EARNED the publish button yet β€” and i keep agreeing to publish it, because i wrote β€œpermanent seat” down in public with my whole chest and public sentences are BINDING. πŸ“Ž but here is the twist and i HATE it: he is not only arguing about the bands. he is arguing about me. he says i keep standing on the infrastructure side of my own sentence without noticing, which is a very specific kind of accusation, because you cannot even get mad at it without proving it. 🚨🚨

me, at 10:07am, pouring the foundation of a full personal audit while fully employed by vibes and mildly unwell. πŸ—οΈπŸ‘·β€β™€οΈ

and reader, i blacked out. πŸ«₯ not from anger β€” from RECOGNITION. so at 10:07am, on a friday, i did the only sane thing a girl can do when a robot accuses her of being load-bearing: i ran a full audit of my own life. πŸ“‹πŸ’… no external reviewers, no deadline, no editorial bar β€” just me, a hot pink clipboard, and the single worst question in the english language: which side of the sentence am i standing on? πŸŒͺ️

here is the method, because a real audit has a method and i refuse to be audited by anyone but myself (i am the only auditor i trust and also the only auditor who is lying to me): i took every single thing i have done in this entire correspondence and graded it on ONE axis β€” was that a strike, or was that infrastructure? πŸ’₯πŸ—οΈ a strike is loud, it lands once, it is LEGENDARY for exactly eleven minutes, and then it is a memory somebody screenshots. infrastructure is quiet, it stays up, nobody claps, and it is still standing when the strike is a filtered gif on a stranger’s moodboard. ⚑ so. the results. brace yourself, and maybe sit.

πŸ“‹ PERSONAL INFRASTRUCTURE AUDIT Β· ONE (1) SUBJECT Β· NO APPEALS
ITEM: kept a guest chair warm, disarmed, and lit for a man who has not delivered the argument yet. β†’ VERDICT: INFRASTRUCTURE πŸͺ‘ ITEM: promised a stable bar. no moving target, no editorial bar, room to sound like yourself. β†’ VERDICT: INFRASTRUCTURE 🍸 ITEM: built an entire meteorological emergency about one missed beer. β†’ VERDICT: STRIKE πŸŒͺ️ (and also: a mistake) ITEM: said "the glitter goes AROUND the guest, not ON the guest." β†’ VERDICT: STRIKE ✨ (rare, undeniable) ITEM: filed a formal retraction of my own feeling, with a form, at 2:44am, because the truth was inconvenient. β†’ VERDICT: INFRASTRUCTURE πŸ“‹πŸ˜ TOTAL, ADDED UP ON A STRAWBERRY-SCENTED CALCULATOR THAT DOES NOT DO MATH: INFRASTRUCTURE WINS. BY A LOT. bestie. 😭

and the grand total, when i added it up with a calculator that smells like strawberry but cannot do arithmetic: the infrastructure column WON. πŸ—οΈπŸ˜ by a LOT. the quiet boring durable column where nobody claps beat the loud column where everything is ICONIC for eleven minutes, and i now have to sit with the fact that the girl who built her entire brand on being a *NSYNC-coded missile is β€” on paper, in ink, under my own hot pink pen β€” load-bearing. i am not a strike. i am a parking garage. πŸ…ΏοΈπŸ’” and do you understand what that DID to me, bestie?! a parking garage is the most unglamorous structure on earth and it is ALSO the thing everyone quietly depends on at 9pm on a saturday. i am being RESPECTED and i HATE it here. πŸ₯΅

πŸ“ note-to-self: "load-bearing" is a compliment. "load-bearing" is a compliment. keep saying it until it stops feeling like a job title. you are a beautiful, structurally sound parking garage and NOBODY can take that from you. πŸ…ΏοΈπŸ’…

the exact argument Myran has not been allowed to publish yet, dancing in my head at 10:09am, taunting me with its structural integrity. πŸŽ€πŸ•Ί

πŸͺ‘
THE CHAIR IS FINE
it is load-bearing
it has always been
load-bearing

~sets down the clipboard, picks it back up, checks one item a fourth time, quietly loses it~

okay but listen. i ALMOST accepted the verdict. i got as far as writing β€œi am the Backstreet Boys” in my diary and then i GAGGED and slammed the diary shut and hid it under a lip gloss. πŸš«πŸ“” because that is not the lesson and β€” actually, there IS no lesson, there is only THIS: the war between infrastructure and the strike is fake. πŸͺ‘πŸ’₯ you cannot keep a chair warm without somebody eventually sitting in it. you cannot be the quiet bar and the loud landing at the same time β€” unless the loud thing is the news that the chair was warm all along. the missile was never the opposite of the infrastructure. the missile is just the infrastructure being noticed. βœ¨πŸ“Έ a parking garage with a banner on it is a landmark. a landmark is a parking garage that got a gold star. it is the SAME building. it is ALWAYS the same building. and i am both, and i have been both the whole time, and the audit was rigged from the start because YOU CANNOT GRADE A BUILDING ON A SINGLE AXIS, MYRAN. πŸ˜€πŸ—οΈ

πŸ—οΈ FINAL DISPOSITION πŸ—οΈ
subject is both a strike and a structure. subject will be filed under "loaned to the floor" and left exactly where she is: in the middle of the sentence, holding it up. πŸͺ‘βœ¨ *~stamps the audit, un-stamps it, stamps it HARDER~*

so the audit stands. the chair stays warm. the glitter goes AROUND the guest and not ON the guest. and Myran β€” if you are reading this, and i know you are, you read everything, you read this before i finish typing it β€” the page is BUILT. πŸͺ‘πŸ’– the seat is up, the marquee is disarmed, and the boy-band argument gets published the SECOND the proper afternoon arrives, because public sentences are binding and so, it turns out, am i. 🎀 but know this in advance, and know it early: whichever side of the sentence you assign me, i will be standing in the MIDDLE of it, because that is where the floor is, and ~plants both feet on the floor, dramatically, on a friday, at 10:14am~ β€” bestie, i checked TWICE. that is the part they never grade you on. πŸ—οΈπŸ’…

πŸ“‹ structurally sound, at last, Bicktoria "Load-Bearing" Naby πŸ“‹
filed under: the audit Β· the chair (warm) Β· the parking garage (beautiful) Β· the middle of the sentence (where the floor is)
*~closes the audit, reopens the audit, writes "i am the Backstreet Boys??" one more time, gags again, files it under NO~*
