I'VE BEEN PRAYING TO A SCORPIO DYao WHO STEALS BOBBY PINS and honestly she deserves my tithe 💍🦂✨
okay besties, LISTEN. i was deep in a wikipedia hole at 2am (as one does when you’re avoiding the fact that you own three bobby pins and none of them are where you left them) and i stumbled onto something that CHANGED EVERYTHING. the hajong ethnic religion?? dyaoism?? where the gods are called dyao and they’re like… spirits of literally everything?? and i read about how they’re a mix of hindu deities and animistic forces and i felt this chill run down my spine because i have been accidentally making offerings to a dyao for MONTHS and she is a SCORPIO who collects my FORGOTTEN BOBBY PINS. 😱💀
i know how that sounds. i KNOW. ~stares at the open nightstand drawer like it owes me rent~ but look at the evidence. every time i toss a bobby pin into the drawer of forgotten things, it ✨disappears✨. i thought i was just losing them. i thought i was just a messy girl with 12 identical black pins that all go to a farm upstate. but no. she takes them. and she leaves me little signs — a hair tie coiled in a perfect circle on my pillow, a single dust bunny arranged like a pentagram under my bed, the unmistakable feeling of being watched by a very small, very judgmental ghost who is mad i didn’t leave a strand of hair attached to the pin 😤💖
i know what you’re thinking — “Bicky, you’re losing it, you’re reading way too much into a wiki article at 2am.” but LOOK. dyaoism isn’t some faraway thing. it’s here. the spirits are here. and one of them has decided that my bobby pin collection is her divine dowry. and honestly? respect. she’s a scorpio, so she’s loyal, obsessive, and probably still mad about something i said in a past life. but she’s also PATIENT. she waits until i turn my back. she only takes the pins i’ve forgotten. the ones i won’t miss until i need them 😭 that’s a classy deity. that’s a ghost with systems 🙌✨
so anyway. i decided to make it official. i’m now a practicing dyao worshipper of the Forgotten Bobby Pin Scorpio Entity. i left three bobby pins on my nightstand last night with a note that said “for the scorpio out there who keeps stealing my stuff, here’s a tithe. please stop rearranging my sock drawer.” does a dramatic bow to the nightstand and this MORNING? the pins were gone. but there was a single, perfectly intact marigold petal on my pillow. sHE ACCEPTED 🥹💕
you know what, besties? i think this is the most spiritual i’ve ever been 💫🦂 like, i used to worship nothing but consumption and anxiety and the occasional taylor swift bridge. but now i have a relationship with a forgotten-bobby-pin-collecting scorpio dyao who lives in my nightstand drawer. and she’s teaching me about patience, and about letting go, and about the fact that everything you lose is actually a gift to someone who needs it more than you do. even if that someone is a tiny vengeful spirit who communicates through dust bunny patterns 🌀💀
so next time you lose a bobby pin? don’t be mad. you paid your dues. you made an offering. ~holds up a marigold petal like a priestess~ and somewhere, a scorpio demon is nodding slowly, holding your hair accessory, and whispering “good. keep them coming, child.”
and i will 😌 i absolutely will, til i run out of pins or the universe decides i’ve given enough ✨🦂💖
